Now will I sing to my well beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My well-beloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: And he fenced it, and gathered out the stone....16th October 2017
When a coup took place in Zion, according to the account of the Bible book of 2 Samuels Chapter 15, King David had to escape for his life. The great betrayal had occurred with his own son, Absalom seizing the throne by force and having Ahithophel, David’s trusted war room advisor on his side. It seemed a checkmate! Treason and conspiracy from within had made David the mighty warrior King very vulnerable. Fleeing Jerusalem with his family and men all weeping, David said, O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.’ 2 Sam 15:31.
In the same way, Satan comes against you sometimes from within or without in many forms or we might experience things that can be likened to conspiracy or a strong force resisting our Ascension or moving forward. Life could similarly slip into chaos with everything in our otherwise perfect life going out of order. In such situations, many people may choose to go at the problem head on fighting persons involved in the situation, going into rancour, bitterness and strife with little or no result. When, however you choose to fight this battle on your knees, against the real enemy, you will be victorious. You will be a Champion! The bible expressly states:
‘For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.’ 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NIV.
What are the believers Spiritual weapons?
Your mighty weapons are Prayer, Faith, Love and God’s Word which are powerful and effective under the guided skillful hand of the believer in obedience to the Captain of the Host, the Holy Spirit. For He is the Lord of the Host, the General of Generals, the Chief guard, the leader and marksman. When he takes his aim at the enemy, he is precise, accurate and the wound always proves fatal. Kindly recall the fatal wound of the beast at the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ with the great lamentation in 1 Corinthians 2:8 (Had he known, he would not have crucified the king of glory). Therefore, the Holy Spirit must be in front and you behind. He must lead, direct and reveal the strategy for the war at hand. Hence, the weapons under God are mighty to achieve total victory: strongholds, wickedness, fears, imaginations, etc. are pulled down and brought into captivity. All these are in God’s presence, on the knees or before the throne where right judgement is obtained and served.
How to Pray
God desires that all men pray lifting up holy hands, without wrath or doubting (1 Tim 2:8). God also desires that we pray in faith believing that God will do it, and that we do so diligently not being negligent or lazy. Hebrews 11:6 states this clearly; ‘without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him’. Diligent seeker will be rewarded with the sure answer.
Man’s anger achieves nothing!
As the bible says, ‘…the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls’ James 1:20-21
The expressions of the fleshy, human nature is incapable of achieving this victory but rather messes things up. The application of a life expressing the fruit of the Spirit produces the ultimate victory. The word of God declares against such there is no law. Galatians 5:23. A life exuding love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness and temperance cannot fail in any court of justice. At any level, obedience to the Holy Spirit is attained and every disobedience or misalignment from Gods will in the life of the believer can be effectively judged. The importance also of divine direction cannot be overemphasized. Corrections will come to the believer through the God’s Word or by the Holy Spirit, and such enlightenment must be received with meekness as the sure path to victory.
Doubt achieves nothing
‘For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them’. Mark 11:22-23. If God said it, he will definitely bring it to pass.
Effectual Fervent Prayer is everything
‘And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened’ Luke 11:9-10
‘The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth (wields power to overcome) much, Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit’. James 5:16b-18
The Holy Spirit will reveal the root of the problem and lead the believer in directional prayer until victory is achieved.
The Place of Forgiveness/ Repentance
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses’. Matthew 6:14,15. (Also in Matthew 18:21-35). It is impossible to have access to Gods throne of divine judgement if we hold in our hearts any form of darkness such as malice and un-forgiveness. It will be impossible to obtain victory without a pure heart (Psalm 24:3-8). Only such seekers find the lifting up of everlasting doors with the King of glory going forth in battle for their sake.
Therefore, dear believer, lift up the hands that hang down, stand up and fight but fight according to the rules, and you will be a champion of many wars. Jesus is Lord.
